LEADING NEW YORK DENTIST OFFERS GROUND-BREAKING DNA TREATMENT WITH EPIGENETIC ORTHODONTICS
NEW YORK Dentist Dr. Martha Cortes is leading the way in the field of functional cosmetic dentistry as a certified provider and instructor of the DNA appliance™, a functional system of treating teeth, jaws, temporomandibular joints, face and airway for optimal growth and development by engaging the patient’s underlying genetics.
Dr. Cortes will again be collaborating with acclaimed dentist and inventor of the DNA appliance™, Dr. David Singh, to provide guidance and training to practicing dentists on the use of the appliance along with the biological fundamentals that form the foundation of this break-through dental technology.
The DNA appliance™ Certification Level II course was given by Drs. Cortes and Singh in New York City on May 13-14, 2011 and will be offered again September 29-30, 2011. This is a definitive two-day course to become a Certified Provider of the DNA applianceä.
Advanced training courses, including Levels III and IV, that instruct attending practicing dentists on mid-facial development, temporomandibular joint function and dysfunction, obstructive sleep apnea, upper airway resistance syndrome (UARS) and snoring will be offered October 1-2, 2011.
The DNA appliance™ is a removable functional appliance worn in the evenings and during sleep. The appliance is designed to stimulate natural developmental mechanisms that can expand narrow dental arches, correct alignment of teeth, improve and balance facial development and increase airway space resulting in improved daytime and night-time breathing. Epigenetic orthodontics, the biological foundation for the DNA appliance™, engages a person’s genetic blueprint to initiate tissue building and remodelling of the oral cavity and facial structures by relying on the body’s innate, natural developmental processes.
By stimulating gene expression via gentle forces, the DNA appliance™ can turn on normal gene functions that may have been suppressed by environmental factors, such as poor nutrition, poor posture, poor breathing, destructive oral habits, allergies and inherited tendencies. The DNA appliance™ stimulates this epigenetic function and is constructed to activate growth genes in the maxillae or mandible that have been suppressed by external/internal factors resulting in stunted growth of the jaws and mid-face.
The DNA appliance™ is a complete functional system that can be used on its own to straighten teeth, relieve TMJ pain, open restricted airway space, diminish snoring and reduce sleep apnea. It can also be used in conjunction with other therapies to develop an improved occlusion (bite) and facial structure that approaches the ideal – both aesthetically and functionally – in children and adults. DNA appliances™ are based upon a proprietary design that incorporates advanced technology enabling a smart adjustment system providing patients with freedom from frequent dental visits for adjustments.
